RP-PvP arrives at launch: guilds should pick a ruleset before reservations

Blizzard changed its mind on October 22: the Roleplay-PvP ruleset will be in WoW Forever at launch on November 4. The team had said it didn't want to split the roleplaying population, but added it after strong demand. Blizzard aims to make RP-PvP selectable during Early Name Reservation, which starts October 27.

In Forever you choose a ruleset, not a realm. At launch there will be Normal, PvP, Role-Play and RP-PvP. Players on the same ruleset can group, run dungeons and raid together; players on different rulesets can't group. Hardcore isn't at launch and comes later; Blizzard hasn't given a date.

What matters for guilds: if everyone doesn't make characters on the same ruleset, you can't raid together. The three-character Early Name Reservation limit is also shared across rulesets. Make two characters on PvP and you only have one left for any other ruleset. Settle your guild's ruleset and tell your members before the evening of October 27; it's much easier than deleting characters later.

Reminder: in Europe, name reservation opens on Tuesday, October 27 at 18:00 CET and runs until November 3. Accounts with an upgrade pack can take part.
